The Practice of Generosity
Giving is one of the ways we participate in the work God is doing in and through Trinity West Seattle. When we give, we support the life of the church, care for one another’s needs, and join in God’s mission in our city. Scripture teaches that giving is not meant to be reluctant or forced but a joyful response to God’s generosity. Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 9:7-8 that God loves a cheerful giver and is able to make all grace abound so that we may abound in every good work. The foundation of Christian generosity goes even deeper. In 2 Corinthians 8:9 we are reminded that Jesus, though rich, became poor for our sake so that through His poverty we might become rich. We do not give in order to make God respond to us. We give because He has already given Himself to us in Jesus. Our generosity becomes an expression of worship, trust, and gratitude as we learn to live in the fullness of His grace.
