WHY WE GIVE

For the Christian, giving to their local church is not merely a responsibility, it’s an opportunity. It is a way to participate in the work that God is doing, take care of one another's needs, and worship God with our money.

2 Corinthians 9:7-8

Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.

The underlying motive, however, goes deeper than all these things:

2 Corinthians 8:9

"For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor,
so that you by his poverty might become rich."

We don't give to God hoping he will respond to us, we respond to God's great gift in Jesus Christ by giving sacrificially, cheerfully and willingly.
