A Wife’s Reflections on the Lead Pastor Residency

To the people of Trinity West Seattle:

Thank you for the kindness and openness and love you have shown to me and my family. I have been shown grace and kindness in many ways. I am honored to have been a small part of the life of Trinity West Seattle. I have been able to serve the church in ways that I feel led. I have been able to be weak without judgment. I have been able to be an imperfect parent without judgment. I have experienced immense grief while attending Trinity and I didn’t feel pressured to hide it, what a gift!

I have often said that the Lead Pastor Residency is kind of like being a foster parent. You have poured your hearts out to us and soon we will have to say goodbye. We will all be sad. However, there will be a new Lead Pastor Resident and they might also have a wife and kids. Please, open your hearts to them too! They will be in need of your kindness and love just like we were.

To the women of Trinity:

Thank you! You have provided me solace and understanding. You have given me listening ears and you have shared your stories and your hearts with me. You have babysat my kids and given me hand-me-downs! I have been so blessed by getting to know you and being known by you.

To the Grandmas of Trinity:

Thank you! You have offered me help from a pure heart. You have offered me support and love. You have loved on my kids. You have loved on Jayson. You have babysat my kids! You have cried with me. You have prayed for me.

To the men of Trinity:

Thank you! You have always made me feel safe. You have honored me by honoring Jayson. You have trusted his leadership and opened your hearts to our whole family.

To the young people of Trinity:

Thank you! You have loved on me by loving my kids! You watch out for my kids by being a playful and safe place for them. You have babysat my kids at church and in my home!

I am so grateful for the experience of the Lead Pastor Residency as a place for me to learn and grow as Jayson has.

Thank you.
